Contractor of The Year Recognition For Conlon

June 6, 2012 - News

Conlon Construction has been highly commended in the Contractor of the Year category at the North West Regional Construction Awards 2012 last night [Thursday 31 May], following a string of award wins and short-listings this year.

With five other major competitors in the same category, competition was tough as Conlon were up against several national contractors.

The awards were an opportunity to recognise and reward the achievements of the region’s construction industry, showcasing the best and most innovative projects and working practices.

Michael Conlon, construction director at Conlon Construction, said:

We are honoured to be highly commended in the Contractor of the Year category. We were up against some major competitors and couldn’t allow ourselves to get our hopes too high. It’s been a successful year for Conlon and we are delighted that the team’s hard work has been recognised.

Winners were announced at a glittering ceremony held at The Palace Hotel, Manchester, hosted by Granada TV’s Lucy Meacock.

The event was organised by the CCI (Centre of Construction Innovation), which is the flagship centre for Rethinking Construction in the North West, and the main hub for innovation and change in the built environment sector.
Commenting on the awards, Roy Stewart, Chief Executive at CCI, said:

I would like to thank all those who came out to show their support. To have received such a large number of entries is testament to the resilience and forward thinking mentality of the North West’s construction sector. The submissions raise the bar each year and I would like to praise both the winners and finalists in making the region a pioneer for sustainability in construction.
