Health and Safety

Conlon Construction complies fully with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 together with the Management of Health and Safety at Work (Amendment) Regulations 2006, the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2007 and other relevant safety legislation in order to maintain our excellent Health & Safety record.

Overall Responsibility for Health & Safety lies with Michael Conlon, Construction Director, in conjunction with our external advisors, RG Wilbrey (Consultants) Ltd. who advise on all Health & Safety matters and undertake regular site inspections.

Our Health & Safety policy outlines our general commitment to providing safe working conditions for all employees and people affected by our works.  In addition it highlights the individual roles and responsibilities of Conlon staff in implementing Health & Safety procedures. The policy is reviewed annually to take into account any new legislation or company initiatives as they are introduced.

In addition to the Health & Safety Policy, a Construction Phase Health and Safety Plan is developed for each individual project and agreed with the project CDM Coordinator. This plan is implemented by Site Management on a day-to-day basis and is on the agenda at weekly internal management meetings. Hazards identified as requiring Risk Assessments or Method Statements are reviewed and planned for during these meetings.  The procedures identified are then incorporated in the Construction Phase Plan and communicated to all parties involved using toolbox talks and client liaison meetings.

As an accredited ‘Investor in People’ we invest considerably in training for all our staff, particularly that relating to Health & Safety. Levels of training are continuously reviewed and details of current training standards are included in our Health & Safety Policy which is available on request.
